Korean Air revolutionizes air safety with its new video starring virtual humans. Rina, the virtual assistant, leads the safety instructions presentation in an immersive digital environment
Korean Air has unveiled its latest onboard safety video, featuring virtual human characters. This video showcases a virtual flight attendant, dressed in Korean Air’s distinctive uniform, delivering essential safety instructions in a digital environment.
By introducing this new concept of virtual humans in its safety video, the airline aims to reach its diverse customer base spanning all ages and cultural backgrounds. It’s expected that this visually captivating presentation will capture passengers’ attention and increase their engagement during the pre-flight safety demonstration.
Meet the Virtual Crew
This marks a significant milestone as it’s the first time an airline has featured a safety video starring virtual humans. The virtual lead, Rina, and the virtual girl group, MAVE, are creations of Metaverse Entertainment, a division of Netmarble F&C.
The video unfolds in the “Korean Air Safety Lounge,” a virtual space designed with aviation-themed motifs to facilitate the explanation and understanding of onboard safety rules. Rina, delivering safety instructions as a virtual flight attendant, has undergone training at Korean Air’s Cabin Crew Training Center and has been appointed an honorary flight attendant. MAVE, on the other hand, acts as passengers following safety instructions.
" This will become a great example of the synergy created between the aviation industry and digital technology. We intend to change perceptions of inflight safety videos with these new ideas, and make them more relatable and engaging for passengers ."
Korean Air will begin showing this new safety video on all its flights starting from January 4th, and it will also be available on the airline’s official YouTube channel. This is the latest effort by the airline to emphasize the importance of onboard safety and provide a unique experience for its passengers. The video covers a wide range of topics, from handling carry-on luggage to using seat belts and emergency procedures.
